The PACT Division of the EGS, now in operation for over 27 years, invites you to discover a set of unique possibilities for advanced study that traverse the arts, humanities, and sciences. We assemble world-leading critical theorists, philosophers, artists, and practitioners from fields such as psychoanalysis, film, music, and literature for seminars that provide for cross-disciplinary encounter and research at the very highest levels.

Our campuses are in sites of startling beauty in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, and Valletta, Malta. Here, in yearly intensive sessions offering considerable choice to students, our celebrated faculty explore the foundations of modern thought and creative practice while addressing the most urgent questions of the day. They combine depth of questioning with experiment, attracting an international community of inspired students with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

PACT offers a uniquely modern educational opportunity by offering teaching of the highest level in flexible formats. In addition to its renowned EU-accredited degree programs at the MA and PhD levels, it allows for non-matriculated study, and provides for the possibility of auditing individual courses in-person or online. Its intensive seminar structure gives individuals the possibility of completing a degree while pursuing other work or professional obligations throughout the year.

This flexible structure has been enhanced by a hybrid format.  Students have the option of pursuing their studies online (at reduced tuition) if they are prevented, for any reason, from joining our community in person. We do want to emphasize that attendance in person provides an exceptional opportunity for frequent exchange between students and faculty, in the seminar and outside it (this can be done in either or both of our yearly sessions in Saas Fee or Valletta).  Such exchange can be enormously beneficial, as can the daily work and social experience with other students in what is always a quite vital community.  Alumni frequently report that their experience in residence with the EGS has been transformative for them.  Our distinguished faculty also return year after year by reason of the unique teaching experience they enjoy with EGS students.
